Each Faction comes with its own perks, and your choice also alters certain dialogue moments and relationships, as it plays a part in how Rook came to be a part of Varric’s group.

While your Faction choice may entirely depend on what you want to role-play as, the perks can affect your gameplay experience depending on your class as well. We’ll help you figure out the best Faction to pick for your Rook in Dragon Age: The Veilguard so you can finally leave that character creation menu and start the actual game.

Each Faction in Dragon Age: The Veilguard comes with three perks. The first always has you gain reputation with your chosen Faction faster, while the second has you deal better damage to a specific enemy type. The final perk is more specific to the Faction.

On top of perks, the Faction also decides your surname and backstory. The character creation menu will briefly detail what each Faction is and what kind of character your Rook would be because of it. As a reminder, you cannot change your Faction after this, just like how your class is permanent.

How to gain Faction Strength

BioWare

During your playthrough of Dragon Age: The Veilguard, you will come across each Faction and be able to grow a relationship with them. You can easily gain Faction Strength by completing Faction quests and selling valuables to Faction merchants. Whether they’re main or side quests, if they’re tied to a specific Faction, you have the chance to gain Faction Strength with them.

You’ll also slowly accumulate valuable items as you play the game, so save them up and sell them to your preferred Faction merchant to increase your relationship. You can find these Faction merchants in the Factions’ base locations, which you’ll discover throughout the main campaign.

With an improved relationship with a Faction, they will start to tell your Rook better items at lower prices. Having a good Faction relationship can also affect the outcome of certain quests, so keep that in mind if you’re thinking about getting on a Faction’s bad side.

What is the best Faction in Dragon Age: The Veilguard?

BioWare

Overall, the best Faction you could choose in Dragon Age: The Veilguard is either the Grey Wardens, Antivan Crows, or Shadow Dragons. The reasoning behind these three being the best have to do with their perks. Being with The Grey Wardens buff your Health and Defence, improving your survivability. Being with the Antivan Crows allows you to have another potion on hand, and the Shadow Dragons allow your Rook to use abilities and spells faster.

This doesn’t mean that the other three Factions aren’t good choices, but their unique Perks don’t matter as much. You’ll face a variety of foes during your time in The Veilguard, so the improved damage against certain enemies doesn’t matter too much in the long run.

The better Faction can also depend on your class. If your Rook is a Warrior, The Grey Wardens makes you a tanky fighter. The Rogue class fits well with the Antivan Crows as you’re swift but squishy, so you’ll need that extra health potion. Shadow Dragons can help all classes, but especially Mages who rely on powerful spells during combat.

The best abilities in Avowed
A player casting an ice spell in Avowed

As a new arrival in the Living Lands of Avowed, your character has to learn a lot of tips and tricks to survive in this powderkeg of an island. You have an important mission to find a way to cure the Dreamscourge, but there's a lot of danger between you and that goal which will require more than just your weapons. Leveling up will let you spend your points on new skills, just like most RPGs, but they are split between several pages. You are not locked into a single class and can invest your points into one or all of them, but there are some skills that you will want to prioritize getting first. Here are the best abilities you should work toward unlocking in Avowed.
Best Fighter abilities

Charge
Charge is an easy pick to invest your first few points into on the Fighter tree. It is a powerful dashing attack that can interrupt enemies with an explosive hit that breaks through guards. For bosses, saving this move to stop a deadly attack while staying in melee range is always reliable. The explosive damage is good for splash damage but also has utility outside of combat. Instead of wasting grenades to break walls, you can just use this skill to blast down cracked walls.
Constant Recovery
No matter what weapons you focus on, you're going to get hit eventually. Melee fighters especially will be tanking a ton of hits, so Constant Recovery will keep you alive without draining all your potions. When hit, you can recover 50% of your HP lost over time, and with further upgrades, this skill can eventually let you restore all the damage you took.
Devastating Criticals
There's nothing more satisfying than a critical hit. You can increase the chances of landing one with your character traits, but this skill makes each one count by upping the damage by 30% at the first level and 60% at max.
Reflect
The main issue with being a melee class is all those pesky rangers. Having a second loadout with a ranged weapon is always a good idea, but Reflect can almost do the job on its own. If you time your block perfectly when a projectile is about to hit, you can send it back to hit the attacker.

The best Leaders and Civs to pick in Civilization 7
Two world leaders, Cleopatra and Caesar, going up against each other in front of their flags.

Among all the many changes to Civilization 7, such as Ages, Influence, Independant Powers, and more that require a complete rethinking of your ingrained tips and tricks, the one thing that remains mostly unchanged is how you achieve victory. Just like past games, you have the choice to go for one of four major victory conditions through cultural, military, economic, or scientific paths. These are represented by Legacy Paths now and require you to complete multiple milestones along the way before another civ beats you to the punch. This race begins before the first round when you are deciding which of the dozens of Leaders you want to play as and which civ you will use in the first Age. Depending on your choices, you can have much easier time working through these Legacy Paths. There are more possible combinations than ever, so we'll advise you on the best Leaders and civs to pick in Civilization 7.
Best Cultural Leaders and civs

Augustus - Cultural/Expansionist
Our first Leader pick is Augustus who comes with a great general perk of adding  +2 production in the capital for each town to help kickstart your growth. Once you expand and set up Towns they can purchase cultural buildings right away to help increase your culture income without having to wait to upgrade them into Cities. The +50% gold discount on purchasing buildings in Towns makes that process even easier.=
Jose - Cultural/Diplomatic
Jose is another solid pick, though feels a bit more random. His main buff is that narrative events give +20 culture and gold each Age and will get more narrative events than normal Leaders. His other major boon is that celebrations last 50% longer and add +50% happiness, which may or may not include a temporary culture buff. It's less reliable but has greater payouts when a narrative event or celebration do give you a culture bonus.

Wizardry: Proving Grounds of the Mad Overlord - Launch Trailer | PS5 & PS4 Games

Wizardry: Proving Grounds of the Mad Overlord claimed the prize for Best Score Soundtrack for Video Games and Other Interactive Media. Penned by Winifred Phillips, the score for the game is appropriately bombastic, especially when its cover hearkens back to pulp fantasy books of the 1980s.
