The classic Dynasty Warriors games are loose retellings of the Romance of the Three Kingdoms from Chinese literature. While they all share characters and locations from this classic work, the story and events have been rather loose adaptations. Dynasty Warriors: Origins puts a greater focus on the story by introducing a new, single character you experience the events with. While there are more cutscenes and narrative choices than before, the action is just as bombastic and empowering as ever. After the last entry took the game open-world, Dynasty Warriors: Origins refocuses the experience back to large-scale stages. Dynasty Warriors: Origins features a lot of optional and side content throughout the main campaign that can dramatically inflate your playtime if you enjoy doing it all. Then there are the multiple endings you can get to add even more hours. To start, our initial playthrough that did a bulk of the side content took about 30 hours to reach the first ending. If you were to do all the side content, one route could add up to 35 or 40 hours. On the other hand, ignoring most or all of the side content could let you beat the game in 20 to 25 hours.

Thankfully getting all three endings doesn’t require three entire playthroughs of the game. Dynasty Warriors: Origins allows you to start over just before the major choice that determines which ending you will get so that you can pick a different path to see that ending. This occurs around halfway through the game. For a full completionist run of all three endings doing all side content, Dynasty Warriors: Origins could last you 60 hours or more.

Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii is considerably shorter than the last several Like a Dragon games. If you were to play the game somewhat normally, doing most of the side stories, mini-games, and other side activities as we did, then you can expect the adventure to wrap up in around 25 hours or so. On the other hand, if you wanted to just focus on mainlining the story then you could theoretically beat the game in around 15 hours. That's by no means short, but still a big difference compared to past games.

How long is Avowed?

When it was first revealed, Avowed drew a lot of comparisons to Skyrim. Both are fantasy RPGs playable in first or third-person and set in open worlds, so it made some sense to compare the two. However, Obsidian later clarified that Avowed was not an open world in the same sense as an Elder Scrolls, and was more hub-based like The Outer Worlds. This left fans wondering just how long of an RPG this would be. Even though the game will be available on Game Pass, it is important to know how long or short of a time investment is before deciding when you want to start it. Here's how long you can expect to spend exploring the Living Lands in Avowed.
How long is Avowed?

Even though the world in Avowed isn't anywhere close to as big as Skyrim, each zone is dense with activities, side quests, and secrets. Your playtime will heavily depend on how much optional content you decide to partake in. In our experience, doing most of the primary side content, our playthrough took around 35 hours. Had we focused only on the main story, we predict it could be finished in between 15 and 20 hours depending on the difficulty level and your individual skill. This is roughly the same as The Outer Worlds.
