OnePlus 13 users can finally experience Android 16

OnePlus 13 users eager to try Android 16 can do so now. An announcement on the official OnePlus Forums states that users of OnePlus’ newest phone can download Android 16 Beta 2 on their devices. According to the note, the beta won’t be made available to OnePlus 13R users, at least to yet.

Whether OnePlus 13 users should download the Android 16 beta is another story. As 9to5Google rightly notes, early releases of OxygenOS, which sits on top of Android on OnePlus devices, haven’t always played nice with beta versions.

Many early releases of OxygenOS in the past have been rife with issues, and the experience can be barebones when compared directly to the stable version. As such, especially if your OnePlus 13 is your primary phone, it might be wise to wait for a later Android 16 beta version.

First revealed late last year, Android 16, codenamed “Baklava,” introduces several new features and improvements that build upon the foundations established in Android 15, also known as “Vanilla Ice Cream.” Confirmed features of Android 16 include enhancements to the photo picker, improved adaptive refresh rate support, and compatibility with the Advanced Professional Video (APV) codec. Additionally, new Health Connect APIs will support health records, and there will be improvements in resizing and scaling applications for larger screens, such as foldables and tablets.

Other anticipated features include live updates for ongoing activities, a predictive back button, and the capability for applications to block AI writing tools. Notably, Android 16 expands the Linux Terminal feature, allowing users to run Linux applications within a virtual machine on their devices.

Android 16 is expected to have its first stable, public release later this year. The OS’s arrival schedule for Android devices will depend on the manufacturers.

The OnePlus 13 was launched globally earlier this year. This latest flagship features a 6.82-inch LTPO AMOLED display, is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite, and includes several camera upgrades compared to its predecessor, the OnePlus 12.

People always say that big things come in small packages. That may just be the case for the OnePlus 13T, the first T model in the OnePlus phone line in three years. It's a little smaller than the flagship OnePlus 13 model thanks to its 6.32-inch OLED display and a weight of 185 grams, but OnePlus recently revealed on Chinese social media platform Weibo that it will house (translated) "the world’s first 6,260mAh glacier battery." That breaks the record held by the OnePlus Ace 3 Pro, which had a 6,100mAh battery.

A 6,260mAh battery guarantees a longer lifespan -- and, in turn, more screen time -- for people looking to get their hands on the OnePlus 13T. However, it's not going to be the only phone on the market with a larger-than-life battery. Other phones that have come before it come pretty close in battery size and energy -- the latter of which OnePlus has not given much information of in terms of charging power and speed. Here are four big battery phones that the OnePlus 13T will have to keep up with once it releases.

After weeks of teasing, OnePlus has revealed its compact phone -- the OnePlus 13T -- in China. The 13T is OnePlus' response to the emerging focus brands have on thin and light phones, including the upcoming Galaxy S25 Edge and the iPhone 17 Air. Despite its teensy build, the OnePlus 13T packs in plenty of power, including an unrelenting Snapdragon 8 Elite, an immersive high-resolution display, and a large battery unlike other phones of its size.

The biggest highlight is the compact design, opposing the general trend among phones stretching out of hands. Accounting for its compactness, the OnePlus 13T features a 6.32-inch AMOLED display -- compared to the 6.9-inch one used on the OnePlus 13. Even with the smaller size, the display maintains its crispness, with a 1.5K resolution and adaptive refresh rate up to 120Hz. The display supports Dolby Vision and achieves a peak brightness of 2,400 nits.

OnePlus China President Li Jie has unveiled the display specifications for the OnePlus 13T, which will launch tomorrow, April 24. This news comes from Android Headlines.

The mid-year refresh will feature a 6.32-inch flat OLED panel with 1.5K resolution (2640 x 1216) and 460 PPI. The display supports 10-bit colors, an adaptive 1-120Hz refresh rate, a 100% DCI-P3 color gamut, and multiple HDR formats, including HDR10+, HDR Vivid, and Dolby Vision.
